Aldon Smith banned for 1 year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The incident happened AFTER the DUI that was the final straw for the 49ers. He will have to apply for reinstatement next November. His contract does not toll and he becomes a UFA at the end of this season.
Johnny Manziel will not face NFL discipline for the incident with his girlfriend.

1st play of 2nd half, Cousins is hit and fumbles, Panthers ball at the 10. 4th neutral zone infraction of the day moves them closer, and there's Newton 5th TD.
