If Terrell Davis cant make it in with 60 rush TD, 97.5 ypg, 4.6 ypc with a league MVP and Super Bowl MVP over 7 years (If you add in playoffs, Davis averaged over 100 ypg - only Jim Brown has done that also) - then Charles is a no with similar base stats over 8 years (provided he never plays again).
Charles currently ranks 104th in all-time Yards From Scrimmage, which puts him in the same company as Lydell Mitchell, Garrison Hearst, Willis McGahee and Gerald Riggs. He would need to get to the 15,000 yard level before he's a serious candidate, and even in that neighborhood, we find non-candidates like Warrick Dunn, Ricky Watters & Earnest Byner.
He does lead all NFL RBs in career YPC, but his yardage total is just not anywhere close to meriting major consideration.
Needs a few more years of good production. It doesn't help that he's mostly played on mediocre teams. Caliber of team is a much bigger factor in football HOF voting than it should be.
