  • A satisfying ending

going into tonight's games in my full PPR/6 pt QB TD league, I was down 34.62 with Jimmy Graham, Steve Smith, and Shayne Graham to go against his Joe Flacco.

With 40 seconds left, I was down 8.24. Jimmy Graham caught a 2-yard touchdown - down 1.04. Shayne Graham kicked the XP - down 0.04. The Saints failed on the on-side kick, and Flacco knelt down on the final play to lose a yard - up 0.06.

    whee!
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

I have a feeling someone is going to eat his hat tomorrow, once he realizes that's how he lost.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

I'm 6-5 and playing against the team in front of me in the division who's 7-4. I started off the year 0-4 but climbed back into it, and the 7-4 dude is one of those guys who's very active when it comes to running his team, but makes very condescendingly bad trade offers ("You have players on a bye, you're 0-4 and I'm trying to work with you here, Ed. This is why I'm willing to give you Michael Crabtree and Hakeem Nicks for Demaryius Thomas. I'll even do it for AJ Green, if you want.")

Heading into Monday night, I held a 16 pt. lead and had Kenny Stills vs. his Drew Brees. It's a somewhat strange scoring system, but Stills had been averaging 7.3 pts over his last 4 games to Brees' 17.5, so if those averages held, I should have a somewhat comfortable win. I started Stills with Fitzgerald likely out and over Malcom Floyd. Brees' high for the year was 21.7 pts, and that was also his only game >20 pts.

Brees put up solid early numbers and my lead was down to 7, but that disputed catch by Stills was huge. With a minute to go, I was up by 7.5 pts, but then Brees led the Saints downfield and I refreshed the scoring to see I was up by only 3.45 points with about 30 seconds left. No TD, no TD!!! Then Brees hits Graham and my heart sunk. But the scoring refreshes and I see I'm still up 119-118.55 -- I realize that passing TDs in this league are only 3 points! Wahooo!!! The sweet, sweet smell of victory.
