Big Ten, SEC bowl-a-palooza - nearly everyone gets a trophy! or at least, 24 of the 28 schools may get a bowl bid (giggle)
Rutgers became the 9th Big Ten bowl-eligible team last week (before getting crushed yet again today). Other possibles:
- Michigan 5-5, tied with Maryland at halftime (then Ohio St. so beat MD)
- Northwestern 5-6, beat Purdue (must/could beat Illinois)
- Illinois 5-6, beat Penn State (must/could beat Northwestern)
only Purdue and Indiana are out.
I'm hoping for 11, since I assume any bowl has to suck up to the Big Ten for future purposes. Ill and NU can't both make it since the loser head-to-head is out.
SEC has 10 bowl eligibles with Florida and South Carolina beating tomato cans today. Other possibles:
- Tennessee 5-5, has Mizzou tonight (then Vanderbilt)
- Arkansas 5-5, leads Ole Miss at halftime 17-0 (!) (then Mizzou)
- Kentucky 5-6, is off (then Louisville)
only Vanderbilt is out. that's what they deserve for expecting students in uniforms to be able to compete in this league.
