On a serious note (this is serious right?)
The reason why we shouldn't be using polls for every little reason is because we just don't have enough people these days to give a representative result.
The days when we have 17-19 people for every VD are long gone. These days we have a core of 13-15 members, of whom 10-11 will take part. And of the 10-11, it's a struggle to get 60% of the participants to vote. So you end up with polls with 3 options and sometimes only 4/5 people bothering to vote.
