  • Congrats to Johnny, Controller and Hacko. I think I am more confused now than when we started. I hope my suckiness didn't screw up the standings too much. I haven't had so much fun and an assache all at the same time in Uh, Oh, well, nevermind.

Thanks for joining in ! Congrats to Controller, Hacko, and oh yeah that other guy. And Revo too if he finished up there once the scoresheet mystery is resolved.

No mystery. I beat you fair and square and won't listen to anything different. Johnny has a long history of screwing up my score in these things and I'm sure this is just another case of that.

          • I know it wouldn't have given me the win, but that Trotsky repick revo made fucked me good. Had I gotten Hal third was mine.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

            • I double-checked my SS against all picks in the actual draft thread, then went through the SS to see if everyone was updated with 2012 stats, and found three players were not (FCordero, JJ Putz & Tulowitzki). This gives me a final standings of:

              1 - Johnny 179.2
              2 - Controller 175.7
              3t - Revo 159.7
              3t - Hacko 159.7
              5 - Pogues 159.1
              6 - ElDiablo 158.4
              7 - Slasher 156.8
              8 - Heye 155.9
              9 - TSGarp 155.3

Ha ! Once I knew I wasn't going to win I pulled just enough punches to finish just ahead of you. You can mess with your excel sheet all weekend but it won't change the cold hard facts. ::crosses fingers and hopes to beat Heyelander::

I added the career stats "up to" the end of 2012 on those 3 players and still have different standings (Hacko still 3rd) ... I'll go through the picks individually later this evening.

                      • 1. Draft Thread said that Heyelander picked Babe Adams 1920, this had to be changed to 1919 as Heyelander already had a 1920's pitcher ... but I had the correct year in the SS. Toggling Babe Adams from 1920 to 1919 switches the 3rd and 4th positions between Revo and Hacko ... is this the issue?

Standing still don't exactly tally even I add the wrong Babe Adam year though.

A couple of other things to check ... though I'm sure you have these right. Can you post your category points breakdown so I can check where the problem is?

Medwick replaced by Trosky situation (Revo)
Keltner replaced by Al Nichols (Knuckler)

... my standings are the same as posted above:

                        1 JohnnyA__ 52.6 37.6 52.6 36.2 179.1

                          1. Johnny 184.5
                          2. Control 168.5
                          3. Pogues 143

I'd have won by a massive 14 points, and beating 3rd place by 41.5 points! I suppose that's one reason why additive scoring is dead.
true, but the only reason it was like that is because you were the only one punting multiple categories. With only you punting you were clearly going to win the additive scoring. If everyone thought it was additive it would have been an entirely different draft. With most of the teams drafting very evenly it probably gave you even more of an advantage, as opposed to more teams drafting poorly in more categories. I'm guessing if we drafted again with the same format there would be a lot more people punting various categories. This scoring format, with perhaps a minor tweak, is probably pretty close to what I would think is optimal in that people who only punt 1 or 2 categories (or none) can compete with those punting 3 or 4 categories. Lots of different strategies can still compete.

I agree ... maybe something like Multi +0.8. Then again, I almost max'd out this strategy and CJ's 2 category punt almost caught me. I'll run some numbers tomorrow.

Now let's just hold on a second...Johnny's got a point here. In additive scoring I was the best non-punting drafter.
