The last bad i had to deal with in poker gave me $1143!

not that I had anything to do with it... progressive bad beat jackpot thing. The hand didn't even happen at the casino I was at. There are 4 Harrah's casinos at Atlantic city that share the bad beat jackpot. Someone had to lose with quad-8s or better (starts at 300k and quad-Ks, and the money goes up and requirements go down as no one hits). The guy who lost the hand got like 60k, the winner got 30K and everyone else playing at a cash poker table in any of the 4 casinos split the remainder of the nearly 600k prize pool.

any cash game table, tournament tables did not qualify.

30% of the jackpot will be awarded to the Bad Beat hand (losing player);
20% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the hand;
The remainder of the jackpot will be awarded equally divided as shares among all of the seated players on any Bad Beat jackpot eligible game at all four (4) linked properties. The players mentioned above will also get a share in addition to the prize listed. All winners will receive a minimum of $100.00.

So cripes, loser got about 178k, and winner got about 120k.
