                  I heard an interview with a governor about this a while back... She was talking about how absurd it was that states bid against each other to bring in jobs to the detriment of themselves and the benefit of large corps. She said the country needs a better, more unified plan.

                  That's probably not news, but it was the first time i thought about it at all.

                      I see this just dealing day to day with people here in Cali after growing up on the east coast. People here are a lot friendlier, once they are forced to deal with you, but they would rather you just didn't exist. No one stops their car to let you walk across the parking lot, holds doors for you, or the like. People will just stop in the middle of isles in stores to talk or look at their phones oblivious that they are blocking other people (I regularly want to kill multiple people on any trip to Costco). People here are friendly, but not courteous. Back east, with more people living in a more concentrated area, no one wants to talk to you, and would rather keep conversations short and to the point, but they are aware of their surroundings and how their movements effect others. They are courteous, but not friendly.
