Here's a quick video of our frisbee tournament from a couple years ago. Pretty well made video, honestly!

More American children die by gunfire in a year than on-duty police officers and active duty military.

nice - that is a well made video.

I've played a similar game on the beach with a pole with an empty beer bottle on top - the goal was to either a) knock the beer bottle off, or b) have the frisbee dropped. If the other team caught the frisbee it was points for them.

Whats the actual name of this game in your video outside of "frisbee"?

The game is called guts. The High Desert Classic is the name of our tournament.

Serious question - why is the VD community 100x better than the general RJ community? Is it the small numbers and a few of you VD guys are simply too likable and fun to have heated arguments with? Is it that this forum is just missing the bad apples (although it could be said I'm one of those bad apples in other areas of this forum). I'm not sure what it is but it's like night and day.

Either way I always enjoy coming here. And when I see a new post in the VD forum I'm always anxious to see what it is. Other areas, it's not that way.

I've played that game as well.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

We tend not to get too political in here.

Some Placer County news... last night Local news reports that there was a quadruple homicide in the town next to me, Roseville. They break to a map of the location, and I realize that it's the same apartment complex that RJEL Girl and I lived in when we first moved out here. Little news on what happened, and info is still coming out. Dude killed 2 adults and 2 kids, seemed to have known them. Threw one of the bodies in his car and started driving north. Turned himself in up around Mt Shasta.

I just took it as a crazy story... I mean, tragic for the families involved, but crazy that it happened about 3 buildings from where I use to live.

I was playing some WoW last night with some Aussies and told them the story, just as a "how freaky is this?" type of thing, and they were all shocked... like, damn, that's some dark shit. They seemed to have a hard time processing it and it killed the fun mood. I guess I just chalk it up to life in the US, where shit like this is just a curiosity anymore rather than a horrible tragedy. Or maybe I'm just a bit dead inside. Who can tell?

If anyone is trolling they make it obvious, and generally we are all friends and treat each other with respect.

The game use to be a bit more litigious. I quit for one draft because I was held to some rule that I thought was ridiculous (I misspicked a position and was forced to slot the player at DH (he was a shitty QUIZY that I thought I was stashing at MI). Everyone knew it was a mistake, and it was one of the drafts were I thought I was trying to make a good showing, so I was pissed when a few dissenters were like, No, He is a legit pick if Heye plays him at DH, so he's stuck with him. We have calmed a good bit since then.

I moved to permanently ban Heye after that one but got outvoted.

Yeah, it's really, really fucked how our country has become a place where this type of killing just elicits mild curiosity. Welp, nothing we can do. Thoughts 'n prayers!

How is WoW nowadays? I heard the classic re-issue was awesome. I haven't played since my first day of law school. Made the decision to uninstall and it probably was a smart move. That game is addicting as hell. Before I quit I was running a tank paladin that was the best geared on our entire server and was also a dps paladin who was top notch, too. I was in a raiding guild and it was extremely fun. Raiding is awesome.

Yeah, I'm playing classic on an Oceanic server with a bunch of Ghuda's friends (mates?)

I hadn't played in a couple of years... probably shouldn't have gone back. Having fun with it though. I do like Pally tanks the best, but we are playing horde, so no pallys for us (only Alliance until BC brought in the blood elves).

I wonder if there's something about the game (VD, not WoW) itself that attracts and brings back level headed people. There's no trading, and no day-to-day luck or what not... it's not a gambling game that brings in thrill seekers.

This theory doesn't really jibe with Chris coming back to the game though.
