Glad will forever be remembered around these parts by going from cellar-dweller to champion in that one fateful Vintage Draft where the bottom feeders got advice from the perennial champs --- remember that one? Johnny told Glad about the "punt ratios" strategy and Glad won with it, shockingly, and to my knowledge used that same strategy every single VD he subsequently participated in.

PONY Minor league draft started last night .... I've got a list of like 60 names, and the 5th player taken wasn't on it. I go do some searching and he's the top International signing, Jasson Dominguez. I was curious your thoughts on the highlighted part below Mike. I accept a lot of it, but "right more often than not" still seems optimistic to me. How do you feel?
Bust potential?
Dominguez is not 22—he is 16. So while there are only unbelievable things written about him, fans should probably take it all with a grain of salt. Or should they?
With the technology of today involving analytics and Statcast, there error bars shrink when it comes to scouting these players. Teams have a far better understanding of the the type of player a prospect is—and what his potential is— than 20 years ago. So the potential for a player to bust has certainly decreased over the last several years. That’s not to say Dominguez is a sure thing, or that you should buy into the Mantle comparisons. It’s just that teams have way more information today, and they’re right more often than not.I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...Comment
