Damn, my post earlier about depressing music was before I actually listened. Wow. That is some fucking powerful stuff.

Had another listen. Yeah, I can see how there are times in my life where this would really strike a chord. I think I tend to like a little more melancholy as opposed to in your face ....but yeah good stuff. I'll put it on my new spotify faves. That seems so strange, whoever wrote and sang this probably doesn't give a shit about me putting it in my spotify list. Anyway....

I agree with Ken. I don't think using "the spreadsheet" as our source of truth is a tenable solution. Maybe going forward with Ken's ability to get up-to-date stats, then it is. But I don't think it was for this draft.

Charlie Lau's book The Art of Hitting .300 is the best on the topic. It's out of print but you can find used copies. Williams' The Science of Hitting is all the rage now, and it's a good book, too, but Lau understood and explained the technical aspects of hitting far better than anyone. It's no accident he was filming hitters with high-speed cameras back in the 1970s.

Just like music, I remember these from 25 years ago.... classics. I enjoyed the article you posted about the new edgertronic cams the other day too.

Thanks - the guy is 92 and up until a few months ago was a ridiculously good carpenter, building all kinds of furniture and toys for everyone out of anything imaginable. WWII vet. He's starting to reach the end though, and the family drama doesn't help - my mother in law wants to be in control of everything and thinks because she has power of attorney she gets to tell everyone else off. It's annoying and overdramatic, and really sad for the guy who is a real treasure. Trying to keep my wife sane while she's dealing with this.
