    He didn't say HIS morning. Maybe he meant Heye's morning.
    Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

      • This is looking to be really close across many categories ... I really need to have a look at some basic projections.

        I picked Snyder .. I think that's a safe(ish) bet, though he may not be the best 1870's catcher for my needs.

        I'll make my come back pick this evening (UK time).

            Thanks Pogues. I saw he was listed in the career sheet, but didn't see if his BY line was in there.

            • I'm on it BTW ... should be ready in a little while.

              • Some minimum requirements still to be met:

                MJL = 1870 & 1880 player
                POGUES = 1910
                HEYELANDER = 1880

                  Fixed.

                  • I had my pick down to two completely different pitchers. I feel like no matter which one I took, the other one was the right pitcher.

                    • I have reached the point where I know I suck and I don't even have an old list to just pick quickly from. I will try to make a competent pick soon.

Not sure what I did but my spreadsheet is current through like round 7 or something. Can anyone super quickly post the list of picks so far this round? I can get the rest off of Johnny's link. It's looking kinda likely that I might have to delay y'all for a while. Sorry! This is a pretty close competition, though, and I'd like to try and be careful.
                        I won't be home for a while. Considering your position, I recommend you wait until you have the time to make the correct pick ... You have 12 hours for a reason.

                        Edit: Fucking auto-correct

                          • That was easily the most agonizing last pick I've ever made. Weighing not only how many points each possibility can give me, but how it affects 5 other drafters made that whole process suck. I'm betting on how each of the last 4 picks help or hurt the others right in my score range.

                            • As this draft comes to a close...

                              Rube Waddell Is Dying He pitched as though he were throwing fallen apples at a knothole. Then again, he threw fallen apples at a knothole As though he were throwing fallen apples at a knothole.

                              Rube Waddell Is Dying

                              He pitched as though he were throwing fallen apples at a knothole.
                              Then again, he threw fallen apples at a knothole
                              As though he were throwing fallen apples at a knothole.
                              For there is no mystery in the literal, no apology.
                              Which is why they called him an idiot,
                              Which is what he was.

                              And yet … “a sanitorium in San Antonio.”
                              At least there is melody in that,
                              And in melody, there is sometimes mercy.

                              You could fit his desires in a pillbox —
                              Trinkets that shone and crude origami
                              Made from his paychecks.
                              That should makes these moments
                              Simpler and less freighted.
                              With the blood wrung from his lips,
                              And his lungs as fat as an archdiocese.

                              We take him to be wreathed in unknowing,
                              And for us, the living, the full of mind,
                              Nothing quakes us like a man
                              Who doesn’t grasp that he should be afraid.

                              Perhaps, though, the hushed features
                              Belie the knowing.
                              Maybe he is a beast who wanders off to find
                              A dark and final thicket. This is
                              What passes for a wish.

                              Or perhaps his only regret is that
                              He can’t rise from this bed and
                              Drop the ball once more,
                              Let it roll dumbly and elegiacally off the mound,
                              Swivel his head toward the road
                              And hurtle through the outfield and over the fence
                              After the passing fire engine,
                              His cap fluttering behind him like a wasp,
                              Which is the other thing he liked to chase.

                              His bones shall make a fine mill whistle.
                              I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...
