It's funny but since I've been doing these things, I've never attempted any strategy other than "best value" combined with "bad letter/decade/positions." I don't think I've ever purposely attempted to punt a category, it just turns out that way in the end. I think I finished last in Career SBs yet took Brock, so I guess that didn't work out.

But these last two drafts, with a 1st and 3rd place finish, I did far less work than any other draft I did. No projections, no nada. So I have no idea how it worked out so well!

In terms of the next draft, my preferences:

* Franchise draft (haven't done this and would like to see the rules, but I'm intrigued)

* Progressive era draft (Deadball draft followed by 1920-1970 or so and then Modern draft)

I'd be up for the leftover draft, too. It would definitely be good to get deeper into the player pool at some point.

First time I have finished 2nd in a long time. Really happy with how this draft went, I don't think I am ever going to win one, but not sucking was a good change of pace.

I'm really annoyed at myself. Starting out, I used vd2 numbers as my reference point, with the logic being that if I aimed for the top scoring stat in each category, I'd do well. Not so much. There were a few categories that went much differently than expected. For example, I beat the best Runs scored for Career (19122) and Best Year (1765), yet I only scored 4 and 6.5 points in those categories respectively. I beat BY WHIP (1.862), but only scored 8 pts. But that didn't hold true for all ratios - I missed BY BA from vd 2 (.3379), but still scored 9 points.

And if I pick Jim Rice 78 instead of Cesar Cedeno, I don't lose any Career SB points and finish 6th. And Johnny finishes 3rd.
