HAs anyone ever done a study on what is the best position to pick from. Or better yet what draft spot has won the most ????

As much as people seem to like the first Pick - does it win very often?

Seitzer did some research on this back in the day. If I remember correctly, there was some slight correlation with picking within the first couple picks and doing well but nothing overwhelming.

I don't think I've ever picked higher than 4th, I sure wouldn't mind starting out with Babe Ruth one of these drafts...

I did something similar years back, and there was practically no difference over the course of the draft. 2 good turn picks are almost as good as 1st and 28th pick IMO.

There are some strategic advantages if you have a plan in mind, such as getting a mega-anchor like Wally, Ruth or Cobb.

I would actually prefer to pick last rather than 5th or 6th.

I need to work on the spreadsheet. I will need to figure the best way to import data from the Lahman database and sort out the none eligible years. The complete database of all BY's is huge, and there is a lot of columns that are not relevant for our needs.

So I'm OK with a nice slow paced weekend.
