Do they give him a long-term deal, even at a discount, considering all the other in-house options?

He's mentioned several times he wants to stay in SD and will tae less to do so. I think if the Padres stay in contention, he'll get that extension. Possibly even if they don't--Bell is looking for a 3 year contract for about 6 a year, which is doable for the Padres. Will they do it? Wow, is that all Bell is looking for? That is a big discount. He's proven to be one of the top closers in the game, so I imagine he could get closer to 3/30 than 3/18 on the open market. If he'll really take 3/18, I'd be suprised if the Padres let him go.Comment
