  • Lohse or Zimmerman ROS?

    standard 5x5 14 team league.

    Lohse or J. Zimmerman?

I know Zimmerman offers more upside, especially with K's. But Lohse seems way more consistent. I don't really trust Zimmerman when he starts always on pins and needles waiting for that inning he loses it.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

I think that you've pretty much answered your own question...now the question is how risk averse are you?

I tend to be less risk averse Which do you think would bring back more in a trade?

Zimmerman...Lohse is strictly vanilla, boring as hell and not much for trade bait. Zimm is the hope that he'll put it together and become a big winner with lots of K's and great ratios.

Zimmermann by a country mile. I wish I were in a league with you and owned Lohse while you owned Zimmermann. Now, if it were Zimmerman as opposed to Zimmermann, Lohse might be better. Zimmerman may well be permanently broken.

Agreed, this is not close....Zimmermann is the clear choice here both for expected value and upside.

I wouldn't trade you Zimmerman for Lohse

Another bad game from Zimmerman..only 1K..that country mile is shrinking.

If his bad games involve a quality start and a win, shouldn't that make the country mile bigger?

With bad ERA and whip? and one k. Thats three bad and one good as most leagues don't use both QS and wins.

I just think the difference between them isnt as much as you claim.

Feels like I'm debating two lawyers

                      2011- Present

                      Zimmerman - ERA=3.17; WHIP=1.15; K=481; Wins=42
                      Lohse - ERA=3.17; WHIP=1.14; K=425; Wins=46

A country mile? Are you just basing your choice of Zimmerman on his potential going forward? Cause potential means "ain't worth a damn yet".

They look pretty similar, except in K's and that ain't no country mile, that for the rest of this year i wouldn't say either one has a clear advantage.

I don't know about country mile, and if you're talking this year only, the difference is pretty small. Add in perception, age difference, and future upside, and Zimmerman definitely is more appealing. If you're in a keeper league, Zimmerman will be more highly valued.

Since I shop for value in pitchers, I own Lohse in my auction league.

Another great start from Lohse last night. I sure hope Zimmerman keeps up with him in his next start!
