  • SP choices for this week

    normal categories including Ks.

    Beckett - vs MIA (Turner)
    Hutchison - at TEX (MPerez)
Leake - vs SD (Cashner), at PHI (Hamels)
    Kluber - at TOR (Happ)
Keuchel - vs TEX (Harrison), vs CWS (Carroll)
    McHugh - vs CWS (Quintana)
    Peralta - vs PIT (Liriano)
    Ventura - vs BAL (Tillman)
    Weaver - vs TB (Archer)
Wood - at STL (Lyons) plus maybe an inning or two in relief

need to bench three of these. pretty sure of McHugh and Hutchison, don't know about the third.

In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

I'd probably bench HUtchison, Wood and McHugh. Upside for Ventura is too high. Don't love Wood either... would consider him instead of Hutchison since the Rangers are still trying to figure out their offense.

Hutchison, Kluber, and Keuchel would be my choices. I don't know why Alex Wood would be a benching candidate. He's been good except for one or two iffy outings.

Kluber has a better FIP, xFIP, and K/9. I agree it's close though, and Wood is likely to get an extra inning or two which might make up for the strikeouts. Also TOR has had one of the better offenses this year and STL has been pretty weak. I'm not sure how to find stats on team offense vs LHP/RHP; it wasn't obvious on Fangraphs at least. Oh, here it is on ESPN.

        STL vs LHP: .229/.301/.352
        TOR vs RHP: .258/.333/.435

        ok, I'll go with Wood.

oh, actually, now that I look closer, Beckett is only a one-start pitcher. I misread the Dodgers schedule. Would you bench him over Kluber?

Yeah. It is a good matchup for him, but he is the inferior pitcher.
