I cannot recall a Spring with so many quality starting pitchers going down

Archie Bradley would seem to have a better chance to get an early call up. I could see Arizona looking for a back end starter in the short term.

Doesn't sound good for Corbin. I was considering him in the expansion draft but didn't select him.

I've now lost my $5 Medlen and $2 Corbin from my RJEL keeper list. I also had Medlen in four of my five leagues. I went from having 14 legitimate keepers (we can keep 10) in RJEL and after some trades and injuries, I'm down to nine.

Wouldn't they just put Delgado back in the rotation?

Boy, it sure goes from "forearm stiffness" to "Tommy John surgery" pretty quickly these days. My NL-only team had been lucky to avoid injuries and AL defections this offseason…until now.

Had Jose Fernandez, Corbin, Alex Wood and Lance Lynn for my starting pitching staff all at reasonable prices and was feeling pretty good, especially with the Braves injuries and the decreased likelihood of Wood being banished to the pen. Now? Blergh. I suppose I have to redirect a few more bucks to my pitching staff.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that Tommy John surgery has been recommended to Patrick Corbin (elbow).
He'll get a second opinion this week before making a final decision, but season-ending surgery looks to be a given. The loss of Corbin is a massive one for the D'Backs, who will now likely go to Randall Delgado to fill out their rotation. Top prospect Archie Bradley also figures to spend plenty of time in the majors this year.

Traded for a $5 Corbin prior to freezes in PONY. I would have had the option to drop him (without freezing anyone else in return) had this been announced on or before Friday, since we havea rule allowing this if the player is out for the season. Parker, Medlen, and Griffin were dropped for this reason.

As if the sh**ty auction I had wasn't bad enough, this had to happen. The only SP reserve I have so far is Charlie Morton. Gahhh.

What would it take to put you in a nice Edwin Jackson? Barely used.

As for the D-Backs, I am not sure if Bradley is really ready, he is going to walk a lot of guys, so it's just a question if he's unhittable enough to make it work.

The vultures are already circling my team. You offering a "replacement" for Corbin, Minnehan openly coveting my overpriced Jay Bruce.

I'll take my chances for now.

So you're saying that your program's projection of your team finishing 14th out of 15 was too optimistic?

Strangely enough, after downloading an update to the program yesterday, I'm all the way up to 10th or 11th. But I do have an injury-riddled pitching staff to repair--Corbin; Niese may start the year on the DL; and Parker, whom I picked up in Dollar Daze for future usage (I hope). I almost took Griffin, too. In the reserve draft, I took Morton a few rounds ago and Baltimore's Miguel Gonzalez today. I may take another SP with one of my three remaining picks, or wait until the season starts and pick up a SP or two as I move Parker and Corbin to the DL.
