  • 2k14 - Gut Feelings and Hunches thread

These aren't scientific at all, and some of them I feel more strongly about than others. Figured I'd throw them out there and see if anyone has similar gut feelings.

JJ Hardy is due for a drop-off in power
Michael Brantley is going to hit .290+ and steal 20+
    Chris Tillman 2014 ~ Homer Bailey 2013
Kevin Gausman could end up as the O's closer
Dave Duncan is going to turn a non-Corbin D-backs pitcher into a $20 pitcher, I just don't know which one
Nate Jones is going to be an awesome closer
Mark Trumbo is going to hit 40 HRs
There's a non-zero chance that Andrew Heaney goes Jose Fernandez lite this year
Aaron Hicks finally puts it all together

Hardy's power is AB driven but the drop off may not be that huge. I would expect more like 18-22 in that range.
    I like Tillman going up.
Corbin was taken out of the game yesterday. No word on his injury.
I absolutely love the Nate Jones gut feeling but truthfully he showed last season that he has the skills to be a dominant closer. I'm thinking the comparison is Jansen.

My favorite hunch: Khris Davis hits more home runs than Chris Davis this year.

This is turning into the bold predictions thread. These are some bold hunches.

Exactly my thought when I read the Davis and Bourjos hunches.

The only hunch that I have for this season is that Infante will steal more bases in KC.

Freddy Galvis becomes a useful MI in NL-only leagues.

My bold predictions are some of the "hunches" won't happen. But I do like the hunch on K Davis since I have him on my team. I'll be happy if he just gets 20 plus.

Ryan Braun hears a lot of boos.

Can probably be had for a buck or two in most NL leagues. I know it's a hunch, but curious what might lead you to believe this?

                        NL:

Many of the Nats exceed projections on SB.
Kyle Crick is making important starts for SF in August.
The Dodgers either have to rely on Pederson this season or are forced trade for an OF.
Steve Piscotty see time in StL before Taveras.

                        AL:
                        Phil Hughes earns double digits.
Felix Hernandez stops being so unlucky and gets at least 17 wins.
James Shields ends up being the most valuable pitcher.

                          Jose Quintana breaks out.
                          Jose Fernandez drops off considerably
Giancarlo Stanton stays healthy and easily clears 40HRs.
Javier Baez starts in April (sometime) and puts up strong numbers at 2B.

And that's just in the Brewers clubhouse.

The Phillies have one last gasp of relevance.
League-wide DL days will hit a new high.
There will be another PED scandal, rivaling Biogenesis, but with all new names.
People will make a huge deal of Jeter's swan song, but the most important retirement is Vin Scully.
Bryce Harper will out-earn Mike Trout, but both Washington and LAA will fail to reach the post-season.
Pittsburg will take a step back, but not way back.
More epic fail from the Hall of Fame, as some writers continue to prove themselves unworthy of their votes.
And, the Giants will get to the NLCS and lose.
