Didn't look good, he was rubbing his elbow after the previous pitch.

        From RW:

Kris Medlen was diagnosed with a mild forearm strain after being removed early from Sunday's Grapefruit League outing against the Mets.
Medlen was in noticeable discomfort after throwing his second-to-last pitch, then was seen looking at his elbow while walking off after his final delivery. He will be re-evaluated by team doctors on Monday, and a serious injury can't yet be ruled out. It appears likely that he'll begin the season on the disabled list.

My team is jinked. Lost Harvey last year. At least I didn't sign Medlen yet to a long term contract. Now the wait begins.

No way that's just a forearm strain the way he was rubbing his tricep after the penultimate pitch

When Strasburg got hurt, they said it was a forearm strain. A week later he was scheduled for TJ surgery.

The same direction the UCL is pointing after the pitch is complete.

Have you ever played Penultimate Frisbee?

not to foreshadow anything that everyone in this thread is predicting, but this article has a great chart of the careers of pitchers who have had double TJ surgery: http://www.azsnakepit.com/2013/6/11/...y-john-edition

Wow, didn't realize that Isringhausen had three TJ surgeries. That must be a record.

How do you leave a guy out there in ST after he feels something in his elbow? Guess that wasn't blatant enough for them to come check on him, and he didn't say anything about it.

I watched the video and it didn't look good. I looked up what forearm strain and it is defined as:

A forearm muscle strain is a partial or complete tear of the small fibers of the forearm muscles. Forearm muscles allow you to extend and flex your wrist and fingers. It is a common injury in sports. It is also common in people who work in jobs with repetitive keyboard motions. Treatment depends on the severity of the strain.

                        It also listed the severity:

Muscle strains are graded according to their severity:

Grade 1—Some stretching with micro tearing of muscle fibers.
Grade 2—Partial tearing of muscle fibers.
Grade 3—Complete tearing of muscle fibers. This may also be called a rupture or avulsion.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how badly the tear was.

Braves just acquired Zach Stewart from the White Sox, so it seems they're starting to get some backup plans.....

Medlen had an MRI today but no news yet on that. Also word is Braves are getting very interested in Santana especially after Beachy left the game today. Even Minor hasn't pitched yet. The Braves starting rotation is becoming a MASH unit. I have until Sunday for my keeper list but it is looking more like I may have to cut Medlen. What a turn around from talking about whether to sign him to a 1 or 2 yr contract. 2nd major keeper to go down. I also have Harvey on my team. If my pitchers were healthy I would have a rotation of Strasburg, Harvey, Medlen and Estrada all costing me $39. Best laid plans of mice and men...

Agreed 100%, but it can be excruciating to avoid the temptation. I bought heavily on Medlen the year he was injured and I benefited greatly. I suppose there is the urge to milk the profit as much as you can.
