      He's 33 and has always been injury-prone, even apart from the slumps. Not the best contract the Angels have ever entered into.

      That said, if his name comes up in an auction and the bidding is low enough, I'm in. He can do great things.

            I haven't checked to see if he's available, but it could be in as many as three leagues. There's no way I buy him in that many, of course. I'm foolish but not stupid.

                  I hadn't thought that way, but now that you mention it, one could see it like that. If he had fallen off the wagon, whether alcohol or drugs, I'm sure it would have gotten a lot more publicity.

                  Your initial reading is not necessarily wrong, but it does go against the liberal "think the best of everyone no matter what the evidence" rainbows-and-unicorns mentality.
