  • AL Minor league help needed

Looking for advise for my 12 team AL only (6x6 - normal 5x5 + OBP and Win diff)
Minors can be kept as long as they stay in the minors, must be activated 2 weeks ater callup.
Anyone ROY eligible who is not owned by a NL team can be drafted

IMO, I have a top 3 team going in.

If something strange happens (injury, illness or something wierd) and either Abreu or Tanaka don't start the year on the 25 man, obviously I grab them. Otherwise this is what's out there.
    Have at it!

    I have picks 1,5,12

    Available (alphabetical order)
    J. Alfaro
    M. Appel
    G. Cecchini
    M. Davidson
    H. Dozier
    C. Frazier
    H. Harver
    R. Odor
    H. Owens
    C. Rodon
    K. Stewart
    B. Swihart
    A. Webster

    I'd rank them like this:
    1 - Rodon
    2 - Frazier
    3 - Appel
    4 - Harvey
    5 - Stewart
    6 - Odor
    7 - Alfaro (if 2 catcher)
    8 - Cecchini
    9 - Dozier
    10 - Davidson
11 - Owens (not a fan of soft tossing leftys)
    12 - Webster
    13 - Swihart

I'm assuming that most of the top guys are already taken--Buxton, Springer, Correa, Bogaerts, Sano, Russell, Walker, Castellanos, Lindor, and Bradley, all of whom I'd rank higher than or even with the top two below.

From your list, I'd rank them--

      Rodon
      Frazier
      ---------
      Appel
      Davidson
      Stewart
      Odor
      --------------
      Harvey
      Cecchini
      Owens
      Dozier
      -----------
      Webster
      Alfaro
      Swihart

Some others whom I'd rank with the second group are Mondesi, Meyer, Gausman, Bundy, Zimmer, DeShields, and Betts.

I don't particularly have an issue with your rankings, but since when does an average fastball speed of 91 mph make a starting pitcher a soft tosser?

Eh, probably not the best choice of phrases, but 91 isn't overpowering. It just doesn't leave as much room for error as someone who throw consistently in the mid 90's, IMO.

I would have a hard time taking Rodon over Frazier. There's maybe a 10% chance the Astros pass on him (unless KS wants to weigh in otherwise) plus TINSTAAPP. Given that he's still in college I don't think their ETAs are that different. Yes, Rodon could be a real MFer but Frazier could be too.

Those guys are the clear top 2, and then after that, Appel, then a close group of Swihart, Cecchini, Stewart, Harvey, Owens and Odor.

Thanks, my league has a tendency to take guys closer to the majors in round 1. Given who is picking 2,3,4 and as he hasn't been drafted I doubt Rondon gets taken before my #5, Frazier, however may not be there. The risk of taking a guy 2-3 years away drops him a bit in my eyes (but Oh the upside!). Also, as I am going for it this year, Appel may be the sexier name as trade bait.

Also, yes all the other names mentioned are already owned.
