  • MLB prospect list

Not sure if any of you kept up with it today, but MLB announced their top 100 prospects today. What do you guys think of the list? Surprising that they had Springer so low, esp. compared to rhd's list.

Literally means "pulling your pants down to fart" which is a Chinese idiom for "wasted effort." Makes sense to me!

Theirs is not fantasy right? Springer is a better roto player than real player, I think.

One of the comps that I've seen for Springer is Chris Young...good speed and power, iffy hitting tool. He does strike out a ton, but he also walks a fair bit...probably a better bet in an OBP league than an average league.

Well, I have 18 top 100 guys in my 14 team, 20 man minor league roster league, so I guess my feelings on players match theirs, in general. Judging by their own criteria though, baseball skills, not roto, I'd have adjusted the rankings on some of the 18 I know well.

I'd have flipped Lindor higher than Bryant (a small rank change, I know), as Lindor's defensive is top notch at SS. He is a little less than Profar as a hitter, but otherwise, they are comparable players.

I have him and love him, but I don't think Maikel Franco should be as high as 26 yet--his complete lack of speed and unorthodox hitting coupled with his subpar fielding make me think he should be about 20 spots lower. Again, I love his bat, but his Jon Olerud speed worries me. He will have to earn every hit he gets in the majors.

I get Giolito's ranking at 44, given he hasn't shown enough coming back from TJ surgery yet, but if they are going to take risks on ranking the just drafted guys so high, like ranking my guy Jonathan Gray at 14, I think Giolito should be higher too. Giolito has Gray level stuff.

Other than that, it looks solid to me. I'd have gone higher on Springer too, but the Chris Young comp, as much as it pains me as someone who has Springer, is a fair one.

Correct. So you'll see more glove-first guys on mlb's list, no fear of Coors pitchers, and less interest in SB.

Think we'll see Giolito WAY higher on Jason Parks list.
