It's really hard to play first base exclusively moving forward. Usually you have to move side to side at times and sometimes even backwards. Mixing in some standing still can work, too.

You braves guys, always underestimating Harper's skills!

      • What is a fan's take on Whit Merrifields' playing time.

Is he getting 500 AB between 2B/OF/DH or 350?

His $8 million salary tells me that he gets at least 450-500 at bats.

            • Free Spencer Turnbull.

Both Turnbull and Christopher Sanchez deserve spots in the rotation. But Taijuan Walker and his $18 million salary are returning from the IL. Sigh.

I don't think Turnbull can throw much more than 100 innings this season for his health.

                • There's talk now of "piggybacking" Turnbull and Sanchez in games. This would suck for fantasy stats but makes sense for the Phillies. I hope this doesn't become a trend with young pitchers now.

                    • The Phllies are 27-6 over their last 33 games. The last time they won at least that many games in a 33 game period was 1892 when they were 28-5.

                      • Harper doing promposals!

Bryce Harper helps teenager with promposal (mlb.com)

"I've been brainstorming ideas for prom for a couple weeks and I knew I wanted to do something Phillies-themed because she loves the Phillies so much," Jake said. "I was talking to one of my friends and I was like, 'There's some Phillies players who live in town, it'd be cool if I could get one of them to help me with it.'"

That's when he decided to take the biggest swing of his life.

The high school senior went and knocked on Harper's door. Jake explained the situation and asked Harper if he would be willing to do anything -- make a short video, perhaps -- to help him out with his promposal, which he wasn't planning on doing for a couple of days still.

After all, Jake still needed to make the traditional "Will you go to prom with me?" poster. Harper initially took down Jake's email and said he'd see what he could do.

"Then, as I was leaving, he calls me back and he's like, 'What if we just did it right now?'" Jake said. "And I was like, 'Forget the poster. I don't think the poster matters if I get Bryce Harper to do it with me.'"
