I am not saying it's about time...Yes, I am.
Strange to see Pirates news without the Rubber Duck. He hasn't posted since July.

This probably delays the Pirates manager search until after they get a new GM in place. Not sure why the Pirates waited. They should have let Huntington go the same day as Hurdle.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Ben Cherington "has emerged as the Pirates’ No. 1 choice to become their next general manager."
Three sources told Mackey that Cherington has been offered the job and the team is just awaiting his decision. Jon Heyman of MLB Network was told by friends of Cherington that they expect him to take the job. Cherington is currently the Blue Jays' VP of baseball operations.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

arrrrgggghhhh ... Cherington is extremely well regarded up here & is credited with being a key part of the rebuilding of our farm system ... would be a big loss, obviously a big gain for PittsburghIt certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Well, Cherington has come to the right place if he was looking for a team in need of a farm system rebuild. I hope he can convince ownership to spend some more money on Major League players. Although, i fear that Marte will be dealt at next year's trade deadline.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
