Medica starting in left and barring 6 in today's opener.

Interestingly enough, catching today is Rene Rivera. Seems he might be the personal catcher for Cashner

Astros already have that in Chris Carter. Not many DH spots really up for grab in the AL, most teams have gimpy vets to stick there a lot.

What can we expect from Kennedy?
He seemed to put together a nice run towards end of last year and ST?
I'm thinking of picking him up instead of Lincecum....

I probably would. I don't think we'll see the $20+ version of IPK but I trust him more than Timmah at this point. I think a 15-16 dollar player in NL only is within reach.

            Quentin day-to-day with tweaked hamstring.

Fuck this fucking meathead and his fucking brittle body. The Pads finally have their whole lineup together (Quentin, Maybin, Headly) and this fucking guy can't go more than a week before spraining his ass. Nice fucking signing!

On a positive note, Seth Smith has been a wonderful pickup. Gregerson has been better than decent for Oakland, but our bullpen is getting along just fine without him and having Smith's consistent bat (more consistent than Venable) has been a great addition. I say plant him in Right Field and the 3-hole in the lineup and leave him there. Venable and Denorfia can share time in left while Quentin deals with his myriad of issues.

They need to trade him to the AL so he can finally be a DH again. He never should see the field.

                Agreed, he's got a 1.042 OPS!
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

Seth Smith should platoon, as he can't hit LHP and if I remember correctly, both Venable and Denorfia mash against LHP

It's Carlos Quentin. It is what he does.

Venable got a little bit better against Lefties last year, but he still sucks.

Venable is great. If you feel like your roto team is TOO good, add him to your team. He's like an anchor.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

Padres placed LHP Robbie Erlin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with left elbow soreness.
It's not clear when Erlin began feeling the soreness, as he spun 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his previous start over the weekend. However, the good news is that he's only expected to miss 2-3 starts. Tim Stauffer will take Erlin's spot in the rotation.

Yeah, sure, why not! Not like it matters what pitchers they have out there at this point.

This offense is on pace to be historically bad. In 1/3 of their games so far this year they've scored one run or less. They're about as punchless as Tina defending herself against Ike.

It was especially wonderful watching Rizzo hit a bomb off us last night while Cashner preps for the inevitable TJ surgery and Yonder Alonso can't hit water if he fell out of a fookin boat.
