Yeah, I think a lot of folks believed he had transitioned to a new phase of his career from the otherworldly closer he used to be, to a merely good closer, but I guess he is back to being historically remarkable.

His ERA + WHIP are only slightly over 1.00. That's....outrageous. Not to mention the nearly 17 k/9 IP.

That really wasn't a 'bad' contract, and he did produce for them (even if he was a clubhouse cancer!) His agent was just pretty smart by deferring and annuitizing it. BTW, the Mets are actually still paying Strawberry, Saberhagen & Bernard Gilkey!
