AL Only 5x5 Auction Results & HDID

This is the result of my auction completed yesterday, keepers are in bold. Since we keep up to 6 there is quite a bit of inflation. Batting average is very weak, if I am north of .265 I will be lucky. At one point I debated between trying to salvage the average or just go all in, you can see that all in won. The rest of the offensive stats should be solid, hopefully top 4 in the remaining categories. Pitching is solid except for K's, where I think I need to come up with another 100 or so to be competitive.

I was glad to get Haren at $30 especailly since JV and CC went for $34 and $35 right after him. I way overpaid on Reynolds, but I got him early when I thought there would be inflation at 3rd, really got me when a couple round later A-Rod went for $34. Didn't want Rodney but I didn't think I would get him at $6, so whatever saves he gives me is a bonud. Wanted to pair Mo with Soriano but Soriano went for $10 and that was about $5 more than I was willing to pay. In fact lots of MR's went for more than I would like, Downs went for a buck more than Rodney.

We fill our 5 player bench via free agents so I am going to specualte on a few MR's that should still be available and then grab some MI back up.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You already know that 25 for Reynolds is way too high. I don't love 11 for Pierzynski either but he shouldn't kill you. You need Moreland and Joyce and Bradley to come in on the high side of their PA projections. You have good power and solid R/RBI but speed isn't great either (unless Ellsbury steals 60 again). Pitching is fine, I would have gone with a good MR over Penny but if they were going too high, I understand the logic. Ratios won't be great but K's should be good. I think Rodney will get you 15-20 saves. Still, without any AVG points it will be tough to contend with this team.

It is actually an 11 team league. Thanks for the thoughts I actually thought I was good with speed, my projections for Ellsbury, Zobrist, Brantley, and Elvis get me to 130, plus the ones for the rest should get me to 150. Figured that would be good for a top 4 finish, 142 was good for 3rd last year.

I am not sure what I can do with the average at this point.

No, I think your AVG is done, so you might as well trade what little you have and try to bolster the other categories. Can you trade AJ for Arencibia? Ellsbury for Rajai Davis and something else?
