ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Yankees and Aroldis Chapman have completed a new contract that will keep the closer in New York.
Passan says that another year and $18 million will be added onto Chapman's two-year, $30 million deal to keep the closer from exercising his opt-out clause.
Chapman will be 32 years old next season.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

MLBTR: A pair of MRIs and a CT scan have all come back negative, general manager Brian Cashman told reporters (video link via MLB.com). For now, Severino has been placed on a new anti-inflammatory and will be reevaluated in a few days’ time. No new tests have been scheduled or recommended, according to Cashman.
