  • 2K11 Andrew Cashner

So assuming he gets a spot in the rotation, which is looking more and more likely (moreso because of Silva's complete meltdown than his own merits), what can we expect from the youngster as a fifth starter on this average Cubs team? He is a highly touted prospect with a rocket arm. He has a quality, three-pitch arsenal at his disposal, but the Cubs moved him to the pen and look to be poised to be moving him back to the rotation where I think he belongs.

If he sticks the whole year, would 10-12 Ws, a sub 4.00 ERA and a sub 1.30 WHIP be unrealistic?

That is a great question. New owner, new manager the question may be more about Silva than Cashner. They have already said that they do not want Silva to go to the bull pen. So what options does that leave for his final year of the fat bad contract? Flat out cut him? Trade him (who wants him)?

As a Cubs fan I would be thrilled to get those numbers out of Cashner this year. However I think they are too aggresive.
