  • 9/2/13 AL Pitching WDIS

I have climbed into 3rd by getting great pitching and some help from other teams (both being good and sucking).

    The standings are 81, 80.5, 77 (me), 76.5, 69, ...

I'm currently first in wins and 2nd in saves. I have Benoit/Reed/Uehara/Holland and first has Balfour/Farq/Rivera so if I continue to run all 4 guys out there I should be able to take him.

    Wins 79 (me), 77, 77, 69
    K ... 916, 916, 894 (me), 875
    Saves 82, 78 (me), 75, 74
    ERA 3.326, 3.464, 3.637 (me), 3.718
    WHIP ... 1.2463, 1.2783 (me)

I am 0.006 back in AVG and could take a point from first overall. 5 HR back of the next guy and could take a point from second overall. Nothing else within reach offensively.

    Archer @LAA (Richards), @SEA (Felix)
    Lester DET (Scherzer), @NYY (Kuroda)
    Shields DET (Sanchez)
    Wilson TEX (Garza)
    Buehrle @ARI (Delgado)
    Porcello @BOS (Dempster)
    Albers TOR (Redmond), @HOU (Clemens)
    Rienzo @BAL (Chen)

    Benoit 6 @BOS, @KC
    Uehara 7 DET, @NYY
    GHolland 7 SEA, DET
    Reed 7 @NYY, @BAL
    Soria 6 @OAK, @LAA

I have included Soria $1 because I have to activate him for a week by season's end to make him keeper eligible for 2014. I probably want to wait and see what happens with W/Sv before I do that.

So, which 4 pitchers sit? TIA!

I rarely start anyone against Boston or Baltimore, so I'd bench Porcello and Rienzo as the first two.

The other two are tougher, but I'd bench Lester and Albers. I'd sit Lester because the Scherzer and Kuroda matchups are very tough, Detroit hits lefties better than any team in baseball, and NY should be much better against lefties since adding Arod, Jeter, and Soriano.

I'd sit Albers because Houston isn't terrible against lefties, and in general I'd hate to have my season riding on my eighth best SP.

I ended up starting Lester who pitched a gem against Scherzer and had a good week overall.

      The standings are now
      87.5, 79 (me), 77.5, 76.5

The frontrunner and perpetual champion came out of nowhere and took valuable points from my competitors. The team who led the entire season is now in 3rd. I feel bad for him but he only made minor dump deals and didn't give his team a big enough boost.

      Saves are 90, 89 (me), 83, 82
      Wins are 88 (me), 86, 84, 75
I am 0.0013 up in AVG.

Most of the other cats have settled. I sat Benoit this week to get an extra start but will run all 4 closers out next week.Picked up Valencia, who I drafted and cut, and Presley, to help in AVG.

      2 weeks left, FOS!
