  • Morse Traded To Orioles

Mike Morse dealt by Seattle for AAA outfielder Xavier Avery.

Other than the way his name rolls off the tongue, there's nothing particularly outstanding about Avery, who's probably a 4th OF at best. For all his modest major league accomplishments during his short time with the O's in 2012, this Xavier University grad notes that he is the 4th best hitter ever in MLB with the name "Xavier", behind Xavier Clifford Nady, Francis Xavier Healy, and Xavier Brooks Paul (I love baseball-reference.com).

Morse has been downright horrid since coming off the DL. Only Nick Franklin has a worse wOBA in the second half of the season

While that is true, the Orioles didn't give up much to get him, and he could easily be better than what they've gotten from their Designated Failures all year. IIRC, Orioles DHs are hitting something like .217. Woof.

        SEA is -6% RHH HR

        BAL is +16% RHH HR

3 year park effects. Maybe just maybe a cheap home run surge.
Find that level above your head and help you reach it.
