Rosenthal has been dominant in the 8th inning, and Maness has been solid in the 7th. I'll guess that Axford will be used in high leverage/close game situations that don't involve starting the 7th/8th/9th inning with a lead. In other words, he comes in if Maness gives up a hit and a walk in the 7th. Or if a starter gives up a couple hits to start the 6th. Or if the Cardinals are down 4-3 entering the 7th.Comment
