Girardi wishfully thinking, "So you're saying there's a chance?" I can understand Girardi's hoping, but Mariano has made his decision and his announcement, and he does not strike me as the Clemens/Favre type who hems, haws, and goes for maximum publicity. Mo's taking the George Brett route to retirement--go out while you're still darned good.

This. Mo is not going to come back. He's a deeply religious guy and I think he feels he has bigger and better things to do, and I'm not being snarky when I say that.

It will NOT be Shawn Kelley. He has the world's most ridiculous swing-and-miss slider and a fastball that is 91-93, straight and can only be thrown in the top half of the zone. If it's an in-house guy it will be D-Rob.

Of course, Phil Hughes *IS* back in the 'pen.....

The pen in the Bronx is in the OF. They wanted Hughes to see where the bulk of his pitches ended up.

LOL. Most of his bad pitches seemed to wind up in the Short Porch and straightaway RF, not way out in the pen.

It would make for a funny quasi-religious video, though. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Here begineth thy warm-up, here landeth thy last pitch of the day..."
