  • NEED OPINIONS ASAP PLEASE... Oswalt, Liriano or Grienke??? I'm torn...

Would you take Oswalt, Liriano or Grienke !?!?!

Facing this decision with the #88 overall pick. This will be my #2 SP to go with Cliff Lee as my #1. Standard 5x5 12 team mixed.

Personally, I wouldn't take two (or possibly even 1 pitcher) in the first 88 picks.

That said, I'd rank them Oswalt, Greinke, Liriano in terms of safety. I'd prefer Greinke if everything were perfect, but his injury paired with this past anxiety issues scare me.

None of the 3 will be there when I pick again in 20+ picks. Its a largely skilled and competitive 3-keepers league but the dynamic of the league slants toward an earlier than typical push on pitching. I'm already strong with starting OF(Crawford, McCutch, Pence) 1B(Pujols), 3B(M.Young), C(Santana...who I love) and I have already missed the drop off at SS and 2B so I can wait on those now and snag one of these 3 SPs now to pair with Lee at the top of my rotation.

The only other viable options based on who is still available would be to reach for a tier 3 SS or 2B... or make a best-value based selection (with a guy like Billy Butler, Rasmus or Hart) to plug in my UT spot and add 1B or OF depth... or take a top tier closer (which I refuse to do until very late).

Oswalt for safety, Grienke for the best upside. I see why your going pitcher at this point also.

So no one likes Liriano here? Funny thing is that on most rankings and projections I see Liriano is far ahead OR far behind both Oswalt and Grienke's injury adjusted rank/projections so it seems that there is a love/hate for Liriano which is probably just people saying either I believe he will stay healthy or I believe he won't.

Thoughts? I'm still torn 3 ways here...

Given you know your leagues particulars, I would grab Oswalt here. I like to gamble on upside and might have taken Greinke except for the injury. I might overlook the anxiety issues. Combine the two issues and Oswalt is the clear play of the 3.

I'd take Greinke of the 3, but really I'd be looking at an elite closer if there was 1. Avoiding the bottom of the closer barrel is looking like a good strategy this year.

I went Greinke. His potential value in the NL central was just too much to ignore despite the injury uncertainty/risk.

Good luck. It will be interesting to see what he goes for in my NL league. Oswalt is kept at $19. I think Greinke goes for 21-25.
