  • Grant Green to join A's today

Susan Slusser has reported that former #13 overall pick Grant Green will join the A's today (Monday) to play 2B, presumably. Will be interesting to see if he sticks. And if he does, what they do with Weeks (ie who do they trade him for).

I don't think there is much value left in Weeks or he wouldn't keep getting passed on the depth chart by pretty much everyone.

Gun to your head rest-of-season (which would be unfortunate that someone's putting a gun to your head over something as innocuous as roto baseball, but I digress): Nick Franklin or Green?
12-team mixed keeper. 6x6 (OBP, QS the extra categories).

      C- J.McCann
      1B-Cron
      2B- Villar
      SS- Andrus

      MI-L. Gurriel
      CI- Y.Gurriel
      OF- Blackmon, Judge, Betts, Dom.Santana
      UTIL- Benintendi
      BENCH: Pence, Dyson
SP: Verlander, Scherzer, M. Boyd, JA Happ, Ponce de Leon
RP: Yates, Greene, C.Martinez, Oberg, Bummer, N.Anderson

Franklin without question. Green is old for a prospect (2 months shy of turning 26), hit well in road bandboxes in the PCL while only scraping by with an .817 OPS at a much more neutral home park in Sacramento, has very little in the way of legitimate speed or patience, and isn't that strong either. Not to mention he's allegedly kindof a defensive liability. Franklin, on the other hand, has moderate power and speed, an excellent hitting approach, and is already in the #2 slot in the M's lineup (good for extra RBI and Runs from a fantasy perspective).

Good call all around, esp. the defensive comment...was removed for defense tonight.
