  • Dirks, Arcia or Bay for AL-only OF help

10-team AL 6x6 league (with holds and OBP). I've got C.Young and J.Reddick on the DL now and no OF left on the bench. Best available look to be Dirks, Arcia and Bay. How do you rank them as short-term injury replacements as well as for the rest of the season vs. Smoak, Loney and Reimold for my long-term UT slot?

Dirks should play regularly on a team that will be putting up good numbers. The two biggest threats to his playing time are in the minors --Nick Castellanos who is off to a slow start and is learning the OF after being a 3B and Avasail Garcia who looked good in his brief callup last year, but missed most of the spring with an injury and returned to AAA last week.
Arcia has likely the most upside but when Mastroianni comes back in a few weeks either he or Hicks will likely be sent down.
Bay is the one toughest to figure.

For a short-term 2-3 week replacement I'd go with Arcia, Dirks, Bay. For the rest of the year I'd go Dirks, Arcia, Bay

Even with the slow start I like Dirks. Arcia could provide some short-term pop, but he probably won't hold up all season. Bay can be left alone.

As for your long-term UT spot, I'd go:
      Dirks
      Loney
      Reimold
      Arcia
      Smoak
      Bay

When the choice are lousy in keeper leagues I like to go with the best young potential. The player may help, but they may also be good trade bait. My first thought was Arcia. Then Dirks.

Arcia 2-3 with a HR and a triple so far today... I'd go with him even knowing he can't keep this pace up. He might even deserve a spot in the "En Fuego" thread soon...

I agree with Grinch about Arcia/Bay/Dirks. I'd also take Dirks over Smoak or Loney for the UT slot, undecided about Reimold.

I am not sure I get this. Dirks has a secure position keeping LF warm for Castellanos. Arcia could be set for the next 15 years.

Why not take the chance on a kid with a ton of upside, not to mention the one that is hitting now?
