  • Too Desperate of a Trade?

First of all, heard about this forum from a friend, and I am looking forward to reading and contributing regularly.

Ok now to the issue at hand, I hit the DL jackpot at the shit-luck casino this year.

In my ten team, head to head, mixed points league, I have Heyward, Granderson, Bourne, Reyes, and Cueto. My 2 DL spots are filled, and I am actually starting a DL man every week. My team has been raking, so it's been ok, but obviously I need to address this problem ASAP.

Bourn will be back soon and I need to find a two-for-one trade so I don’t have to drop anyone.

I have Hamilton on my team and he has been awful. I also have Beltron and he has been awesome, but I am thinking I want to sell high on him while I have the chance.

Keep in mind my staff includes Sherzer, Darvish, Miley, Morrow and Ryu
So here is my trade idea, and I would love any advice/suggestions on who to target for a trade:

    Josh Hamilton and Carlos Beltron

    For

    Bryce Harper
    Or
    Justin Verlander
    Or
    Joey Votto
    Or…

What do you all think? Is this too much of a package to offer for anyone? Should I try to sell these guys one for one? Thanks for any responses.

First off - welcome to RJ! Don't let the regulars scare you.

I suppose if someone has a gaping hole at two outfield spots they might consider Hamilton and Beltran for Harper.

I don't see you getting Verlander or Votto for him though.

The problem here is that you're offering to players of the same position in a trade. That's not the easiest fit to make with other owners. Especially considering the majority of the time the owner who gets back the best player in the deal is the one who wins it.

On May 8th most teams are still in it and everyone is looking for the quality in a quality vs quantity deal. Not vice versa. Unless you have a guy in your league who needs OF depth and seriously loves Hamilton and Beltran I don't see a great fit here and assuming it's a non-keeper I'm not sure it's in your best interest anyway.

Welcome to the board. I dont know who to target per se, but I can tell you that you are aiming too high with the 3 guys you are looking at trading for. No way any of those owners would go for that package.

Hello! Welcome. Everyone likes Beltran but no one ever wants to pay full price and Hamilton is a mess. Since you ave a super risky set of players you can always pass through some risk and see if you can steal away a breakout type player. It's still speculation but I dont think the two guys you are dealing will fetch you enough so maybe just swing for the fences. It doesn't hurt to ask but I guess it will be quick rejections.

Maybe just keep Beltran and ride him out and see if you can deal Hamilton for something outside the box.
Find that level above your head and help you reach it.

Welcome, and I agree with everyone so far. If you can land any of that trio in a 2 for 1, jump at the chance. If it takes giving another of your DL guys to get it done, do that too. In a 10 team league, the winner of a 2 for 1 is almost always the guy who gets the one.
