  • Start or sit these bums

Yes, this is a deep league. No, it is not that deep that I should have these issues or have to roster any of these bums.
I need runs and RBI as much as anything (and hits, my average is about .240 now) so I am looking for guys that play.

One OF and One UT. Five candidates, can start any combination of two except the last two together: J.D. Martinez, Jimmy Paredes, Andres Torres, Todd Helton, AJ Ellis. For this week, who do you start and who do you sit?

Bonus start 'em/sit 'em because, well, the back of my rotation sucks, too.

Need to start three: Scott Kazmir (home vs. Oak, home vs. NYY), Tommy Hanson (@ CWS), Jhoulys Chacin (@St. Louis), Chris Capuano (home vs. Miami), Joe Blanton (@Houston, home vs. KC). My other three are Felix, Lester, and Beckett. If you think I should sit Beckett for a fourth guy from this list, mention it.

I really need K's and wins here, without blowing my decent ratios. I have fallen behind in counting categories because I have had one SP slot where I couldn't get a start for three weeks (Greinke to DL, picked up Capuano to replace who went to DL, then picked up Nova to replace, who went to DL). I have released Wade LeBlanc with Chacin and Capuano returning, mercifully ending that nightmare. (He was the Nova replacement---I would have done better if he had gotten hurt, too!)

Any suggestions on who to start here would be appreciated---especially on the hitters, I would love to know who is going to play in Houston.

JD Martinez and AJ Ellis...I'm into initials instead of names.

Kazmir, Capuano, and Hanson...just because I don't think that Sox have seen his junk before.

It is sad that Hanson's throwing junk now. He could really bring it when he first came up, and that was only a few years ago. Shoulder injuries are a bitch.

I like Torres over Martinez, Pagan is battling a hamstring, and Torres will get PH and pinch running opportunities even when he doesn't start

But how many games does Torres start? I assume Martinez starts most (5 or 6 out of 7). If Torres starts 2 or 3 (he is the weak side of a platoon, I thought, and the Giants face only 1 lefty this week) I think I need the guy who plays more, especially since there isn't a tremendous talent gap. Of course, if Martinez only starts 3 or 4......It might help if I had an actual everyday starter in the whole group, lol.

And Pagan thinks he's going to be back tonight.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Yeah, he looks pathetic now...he really should take 2 years off and go and get it fixed once and for all. It's got to hurt like a bitch throwing like that. It's really amazing when you look at it that he has any success at all...

A lot of guys never make it back from shoulder injuries; I am not sure that 2 years off would help. I am amazed that he still gets anybody out.

And now Paredes is in the lineup in his first game up. I am tempted, but I probably should just go with Ellis.

I'm with Horns on this one. I realize KS is on Houston management now, and can't say anything definitive, but DFA'ing FMartinez and Ankiel at the same time JD came back seems to indicate they like JD and are going to give him significant PT.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I know, and I definitely am starting Martinez. I just want Paredes to get some playing time. But, hey, if Paredes plays and plays well, I can just activate him next week, because I am pretty sure that playing well will bring playing time.
