  • VMart, Wieters, Sal Perez

V-Mart is on the FA list in my 10-team mixed league. Weekly H2H categories, 7 offensive categories - AVG, HR, RBI, R, SB, OBP and TB

    Last 30 days:
    Wieters .200 AVG, .255 OBP, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 9 R
    Perez .321/.349, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 7 R
    VMart .228/.275, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 7 R

Should I cut one of my guys for VMart? Is it time to give up on Wieters?

i'd stick with wieters. perez is never going to slug much and his patience leaves something to be desired. vmart is still a big questions mark, imho, and his numbers aren't much better than wieters' so far.

None of them are super hot right now, but I would stick with Weiters, too. That being said, assuming it isn't a keeper league, the difference between all three of them from here on out could easily be minimal, making it not really matter what you do.

I don't see that, Perez hit 11 homers in less than 300 AB's last year, and was slugging the hell out of the ball in the Winter Leagues. I think that he's more than capable of hitting 20 bombs, and his time is coming, IMO.

20 HR (and a sub .400 SLG) in 352 minor league games would argue otherwise. he's a big guy and young, so maybe the power is still developing, but i suspect the 11 HR last year was a fluke.

He likely will never be a slugger, but it's obvious that his power is developing. Yes, he hit 20 HR in 352 MiL games, but he only hit 3 in his first 150. In 2010, he hit 7 HR in 99 MiL games. In 2011 he hit 10 HR in 91 MiL games. That increased to 11 HR in 76 MLB games last year (after zero in 12 MiL games). He's scuffling in that area this year, but he has shown over the last three seasons that there is reason to be optimistic.

Can't agree with you at all...but that's one of the reasons why we have fun at this game. I suspect that he'll have a nice surge in power now that he's getting confidence back in his stroke after starting the season so poorly.

But the best of the 3 is still Wieters...
