  • PONY Results 17 teams 5x5

Well I came into the auction with a weak keeper list. Keepers in bold. This is what I walked out with...

    C C Ruiz 6
    C Barajas 3
    1B Cuddyer 7
    2B Lowrie 3

    3B P Polanco 9
    SS H. Ramierez 49
    MI S Castro 10
    CI Berkman 9
    OF N McLouth 5
    OF Chris Carter 5
    OF M Holliday 39
    OF Markakis 27
    OF Beltran 14
    OF DeJesus 2

    Pitchers
    Brett Anderson 5
    Bumgarner 5
    Wade Davis 5
    J McDonald 1
    M Minor 5
    Porcello 5

    Bard 9
    Bell 21
    Broxton 16

I am rolling the dice on my young starting pitching, I had so many holes on the hitting side I decided to spend my money there. I also bought closers as they generally went for a fair price. Markakis was the last big OF'er available and another owner had money and wanted him too so we ran him up. It was either Markakis or Jones, I let Jones go for $24 the toss before. All thoughts welcome, I know it wasn't pretty going in.

I think grabbing Hanley, Holliday and Bell was smart (maybe Broxton depending if he still has the job when it comes time to move him) as these are all guys you should be able to sell off with a good return if your pitching doesn't come through. I'm not a Markakis fan myself.

Seems like you could be short a little power but not a bad offensive squad all things considered albeit one with some risk/reward types where if they don't come through/bounce back you could have some holes to fill.

I do have 2 more lottery ticket pitchers that may or may not help this year on my farm in Zach Britton and Jordan Lyles. Hopefully I can hang in there offensively and get lucky on some of these starters.
