doubleheader scheduled for tomorrow. we'll see

Mets went from Minny and snow to Denver and frostbite. Who is the genius who schedules non-divisional, 1000 miles away series in mid-April in the snow belt when the Mets would not be returning to either city this year for a possible makeup date?
finished 10th in this 37th yr in 11-team-only NL 5x5
      own picks 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 in April 2022 1st-rd farmhand draft
      won in 2017 15 07 05 04 02 93 90 84

      SP SGray 16, TWalker 10, AWood 10, Price 3, KH Kim 2, Corbin 10
      RP Bednar 10, Bender 10, Graterol 2
      C Stallings 2, Casali 1
      1B Votto 10, 3B ERios 2, 1B Zimmerman 2, 2S Chisholm 5, 2B Hoerner 5, 2B Solano 2, 2B LGarcia 10, SS Gregorius 17

Not the husband and wife who used to do the MLB scheduling for 35 years, that's for sure!

Any chance these games get into today? Is anyone out in Denver who has a pulse on the weather? I can read the reports online but it doesn't really give me a sense either way.

Just saw a tweet with a picture of the Rockies owner shoveling snow on the field.

@jonahkeri: 30 degrees, snow covering OF, rain/snow/sleet later today in Denver. @Jay_HorwitzPR might see his tripleheader dream come true at this rate.

Well, they have Dinger out there (in costume, no less) shoveling this morning. So there's that.

In Denver I kinda get it. But in Minneapolis to not build a retractable roof (or a dome) seems just dumb.

They need some plows or at least a snowblower.

The field is almost snow-free now in Denver, but there's a ton left in foul territory

                        this was 30 mins ago

They announced game one is going to be delayed without any clue on a new start time. They have to get this DH in today since tomorrow is most definitely going to get snowed out with 2-4 inches in the forecast there tomorrow morning. It would be easier to make up 2 games later in the year than 3 since this is the only time the Mets are coming to Colorado. Once again good job schedule makers. First the debacle in Minnesota and now this stupid crap. Even if they clear the field the temps are hovering around freezing and the windchill is in the 20's.

It's not the schedule makers. It's the location/stadium. How did they allow Minnesota to build a stadium without a roof? Even Arizona has a roof. Colorado is a gorgeous stadium, but you're asking for trouble.

Denver gets something like 300 days of sunshine per year. Clearly no need for a roof there. This is an anomaly. As for MN, yeah... seems like they were asking for a bit of trouble there. But so you delay or reschedule a game or two every year. Is that the end of the world? Compared to the added cost of a retractable roof? I don't know the answer.
