Joe Mauer will bat second at the start of the season for the Twins.

Advice: Hitting him in the two-hole allows manager Ron Gardenhire to put the right-handed hitting Josh Willingham in between lefty swingers Mauer and Justin Morneau. Plus, more importantly, it means the Twins won't have someone batting second that should be toward the bottom of the order.-Tom Pelissero on Twitter

i love Mauer but lets call it what it is.. so he can tell the 3 and 4 hitters what the next pitch coming is. if the twins go out of their way to get him to 2nd base for the 4th hitter than there might be something. we'll have to wait and see. even more when you have a guy who is really good at stealing signs. it's a team game!

Jason Kubel made a living out of Mauer on 2b. there should be a split stat for Kubel for when Mauer is on 2b.
