  • Which AL Outfielder for the next 2 years?

    In a 12 team AL only w/OBP 5x5

    Brantley
    Cain

Who do you believe will be the most valuable over the next 2 yrs and what kind of numbers (SB/HR/OBO) could be expected from them if they both took a step forward to at least somewhat meet expectations. Also, what kind of $ value would they probably max out at?

    Thanks

I'd go with Brantley, who is a proven across the board contributor with some upside. He has more experience in the majors, more talent, and is younger than Cain (which doesn't mean much over the next two years, but is worth noting for those who think of Brantley as a vet who has reached his peak years already). I won't venture projections on them, but I'd bet Brantely will, overall, be more valuable, even if Cain does have more steals potential (although it is worth noting that Brantley was a more prolific base stealer in the minors and has good speek, so while he has been poor in that area, there is hope for improvement).

They both could do a decent job of filling the stat sheet. Brantley stole 49 bases one yr in the minors, but I was disappointed last year in what he did with so many at bats.
I see Cain with a possible hr/sb/obp line of 15/25/.340 and Brantley 10/20/.360

I think it's fairly close, but I see a lot of sites hyping Cain and his potential once again

Esix Snead stole 109 bases in the minors one year.

I think Cain has the most upside. Brantley is the "safer" choice. I'd go with Cain.
