NL keeper. I own both - Marte at $2 and Eaton at $4; both in second year of contract. Which would you prefer this year and also in the future? After this year, I can extend either (or both) for an additional 3 years with salary increased by 15. We don't have an option of choosing the number of years to extend - its 3 or none. My offensive keepers are stacked but I'm considering trading for a stud pitcher like Cain, who is $32. I would probably have to include one of the 2 in any deal. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Eaton or Marte?

I think I like Eaton for this year and next, maybe, but once Marte gets his feet, I think he's the superior player. Eaton strikes me as an injury prone guy, his current status notwithstanding. He plays like a wildman and he plays for Kirk Gibson.
When I was in high school football, I had a hardass coach who pushed us to run and we had a guy on the team with little discernible talent, but man, did he run like his fart was on fire. He had bright red hair and one day the coach yelled, "Man, would you all look at that kid go. Look at that hair. He's as red as a booger." From that moment on, through the rest of his years in high school, he was to be known only as Booger Red. He practiced like Daniel Reuttiger on Adderall, but had zero talent and so he rode the bench to make way for the more talented players, but the coach loved him. When I see Eaton, I think of old Booger Red. Sure, he has talent, but I think he's more a centerfield vision of Gibson's centerfold wet dream. This probably guarantees him playtime when he's healthy, but he'll be out enough so that he'll be Pipped in three or four years.
Booger Red would kill to be Starling Marte.

Marte can do so many things, and Eaton can only do one... maybe two if AZ and his wheels can help him to be a .275-.285 hitter.
I would take Marte. If they were both healthy right now I might take Eaton this year with Marte catching him next year, but with Eaton out 6-8 weeks I'll take Marte starting now.

Thanks for all of the replies. I was curious because a lot of guys on here love Eaton.
I have no problem keeping both. My offense is pretty good going into the draft with J Upton, Braun, Rizzo, Castro, Craig, Frazier, and Segura in addition to Eaton and Marte. However, my pitching is very weak and I think I could afford to give up one of the 2 to get an ace pitcher like Cain.
