    NL only 4x4. $260 cap.

    Here are my keepers

    Garrett Jones - $3
    Pedro Alvarez - $3
    Starling Marte - $10
    Carlos Quentin - $8
    Juan Pierre - $2

    Matt Cain - $30
    Cole Hamels - $34
    Kyle Lohse - $7
    Ian Kennedy - $15
    JJ Putz - $19
    Jason Motte - $10
    David Hernandez - $1

I have, obviously, a much stronger pitching staff than offense. With so much $$ tied up in pitching, I'm thinking I should try to get as many of the 40 possible pitching points so I should add another $50 in pitching trying to get a quality starter and possible a closer. Two closers with question marks won't get me 10 points in saves.

Obviously, I could just go for 2 $1 pitchers, use the rest of the $$ to get hitters and go for middle of the road offense and pitching.

    Thoughts?

What kind of boppers will be back at auction? You have a lot of money to spend. You have a very nice pitching staff and do not need to add another ace. In 4x4 you could pick up another closer to grab some points (only if they are cheap enough). Look at the other rosters and see if there any closers with expiring contracts on teams that will fall out of contention this year. If there are several, no need to buy one unless one is really cheap.

One middle tier starter is probably enough. I wouldn't chase another full priced closer, maybe a next-in-line guy like Boggs (since you have Motte) or Fujikawa. That shouldn't cost you $50.

I agree with this 100%. Go for Fujikawa and Gregerson.

How large are the rosters? Seems like you only have so many pitching spots to work with so maybe try to find a bargain or two and spend the big bucks on some boppers or at least a handful of solid regulars.

You've got $116 tied up in pitching and $26 in hitting, if I added right, so you've already spent $142. That doesn't leave you much money left ($118). But you've got a decent start to an offense, if Quentin's knees hold out and Alvarez can put the bat on the ball.

I agree that you should pick up some closer backups. Fujikawa, although he may be to expensive. Boggs. Gregerson. All good choices.

If I were you, I would build my remaining roster with the idea in mind that you will have to trade yourself into the money. I've never seen anyone win with that much tied up in pitching after the auction, except guys who successfully traded pitching for slow-starting hitters who came on to perform later.

Not trying to be negative, but jeez that's a lot of money on the pitching side, especially for a 4x4.

I have seen guys win by dominating pitching rather than hitting. I think something close to a 50/50 split could work. On offense you want to spread the risk no one more than 20. You've got a good start on stolen bases with Marte and Pierre (what 60-70 stolen bases?) your batting average won't be much to speak of so don't even try. I would chase guys coming off injury, poor seasons and maybe youngsters so you can roster as much upside as possible at a discount. Obviously not only these guys but I think these are all potential bargains Logan Morrison, Gabby Sanchez, Matt Adams, Michael Young, Jedd Gyorko, Juan Francisco, Hechevarria, Luis Valbuena, Donovan Solano, Cliff Pennington, Alex Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Travis Snider, Eric Young Jr., Scott Hairston, Jordany Valdespin and Lucas Duda.

There's actually some real talent offensively available after checking. Obviously, new guys coming over from AL.

Co-owner really wanted to get David Wright last year and he's back. He went for $37 last year.

                Also:
                Hunter Pence
                Hanley Ramirez
                Corey Hart
                Dan Uggla
                BJ Upton
                Carlos Lee
                Brandon Phillips
                J-Roll
                Shin-Soo Choo
                Brian McCann
                Ben Revere
                Michael Young
                Rickie Weeks
                Michael Cuddyer

Kind of glad I didn't keep Phillips at $34 with some 2B available.

You can scratch Carlos Lee off the list of valuable bats, I'm not even sure he got drafted in my 12-team NL-only

How many of the guys are available that BigJon listed (good list by the way).

Juan Francisco and Carl Crawford are unavailable. Everyone else is a FA.
