  • sigh, there's always one more question

10-team NL 5x5. Cain or Phillips?

My MI right now is Phillips/Barney/Espinosa, but I have Carpenter that I can move to 2B after a week or so.
Pitching I have Burnett, Harvey, Teheran, Cishek, and Street.

other keepers: Goldschmidt, Craig, Duda, Eaton (sigh)

Cain and Phillips are basically the same price. I will have $160ish to spend going into the auction.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

I would cut Barney and keep both Cain and Phillips.

What are the salaries and status of the players, I can't really answer unless I know the parameters.

        I agree with Gregg 100%.

Unless you actually gain auction, FAAB and a golden egg for keeping Barney then even at $1 he isn't worth tossing back either Cain or Phillips unless their salaries are just astronimcal.

Barney is decent backup 2B in a scoresheet league, but I would hate to go into an auction with that guy taking up a roster spot. 100% of his value lies in defense - which won't help you in a standard roto league.

Sorry, I was unclear. I was offered Cain $31 for Phillips $29. I already have Barney $1, Espinosa $5, Carpenter $5. He isn't planning to keep Cain.

Other players: Goldschmidt 5, Craig 15, Duda 7, Eaton 0 (on reserve roster), Burnett 2, Cishek 5, Harvey 10, Street 12, Teheran 0 (on reserve roster)

Then no. Why trade your keeper for a guy he is not going to keep? You get your keeper then buy Cain for 31 and is the same as keeping them both. Seriously why not counter with your Barney? He gets something for him.But first I would make it very clear that Cain for Phillips will never happen. Hitting is more valuable than pitching , pitchers are more volitile, position scarcity, yada yada yada.

Yeah, I'd try offering up that $1 Barney for him as well.

It's a win win as you get a great pitcher that is likely at value and you get rid of a black hole on your roster.
