  • NL Keeper Assistance please

    NL only, $300 cap, 10 team 10 cat: OBP,R,SB,RBI,XB --- W,SV,ERA,WHIP,K

I can keep up to 8. What do the junkies think ?

Here is anyone worth considering, and I've *d what I think I'd submit if I had to do it today :

    LuCroy 13
    Alonso 7 *
    Alvarez 4 *
    Prado 15 *
    Venable 7
    McCutchen 34
    Sandoval 19
    Motte 3 *
    Lincecum 21
    Medlen 3 *
    S.Miller 3 *
    Kendrick 4
    Cishek 3 *
    Eovaldi 2
    Arenado 3 *
    McDonald 6

I think I'm having the most problems with 2 out of Arenado, McCutchen, Prado, Eovaldi, McDonald.

I guess it depends on what kind of bench situation you have. It is quite possible that you will get little to no production from Arenado and Miller. To me, Prado is a no-brainer, and McCutchen is priced about right.

But, all said, I'd probably go with the ones you *ed.

I agree... lots of good keepers. I'd stop losing sleep over J-Mac, I hope I'm wrong but I don't think that first half is walking through the door again. If everyone else has keepers as nice as you, inflation will be crazy and Cutch is a no-brainer. You've got better options than Eovaldi who is going to struggle for wins. Looks like Miller IS going to get the #5 spot so I think he's worth it for the upside. That means you need to cut 1 from this list:

        Alonso 7 *
        Alvarez 4 *
        Prado 15 *
        McCutchen 34
        Motte 3 *
        Medlen 3 *
        S.Miller 3 *
        Cishek 3 *
        Arenado 3 *

I guess if Arenado makes the team, Prado is the one to go. They're all good and I like him a lot, but Alonso is a good OBP/XBH guy and you need Pedro's power. Of course if you're not an Arenado believer and think he'll start really slowly, you could keep Prado over him.

I'm especially looking forward to keeping a few 3b, since I hate having to fight for them in the NL drafts recently.
I loved McCutchen last year, but I feel I can probably get another bat like him (or maybe even him) for similar $$.

If Arenado is not looking like he's going to stay up, I guess I'll go with Cutch and that's not a tough pill to swallow at all.

I've tried to do some dealings, but nothing getting traction. Our draft is the 30th, so maybe there's time.

he's right on imo. I'd absolutely keep Cutch.

Yeah, I am not cutting McCutchen either. Too good too cheap with a 300 budget.

I targeted a few owners for trade again today.
It's possible someone would want Arenado & Miller. Some people like to roll the dice on the prospects more than others as we all know.

Thanks for all of the comments. Very helpful.

Agree completely on Arenado and Miller, no reason not to dangle them.

I like Jude's list. Arenado didn't exactly light up AA last year so although management is saying nice things to the media, I doubt he breaks with the big club. Your offense has a nice balance of power, speed, and BA and you still have enough money for another stud or two - whether it be on the pitching or hitting side.

                          Well there's an update.
I'm able to trade Venable 7, Arenado 3 for Heyward 24.
                          Done deal?

I'd definitely do that deal without hesitation.

That would make my keeper list:
                            Alonso
                            Alvarez
                            Prado
                            Motte
                            Medlen
                            McCutchen
                            Heyward
                            Cishek
