  • Might have a missing owner for our auctions - any suggestions?

Just got a call from a league member who's with his wife to hospital. Probably not serious but if he can't make it, what options have we? It's an 8 team auction - he's got 8 keepers already.

    Auction starts in 45 minutes!!!

    1. Autopilot if online.
    2. Auction proceeds, assign him the best player at each position for $1 before the reserve rounds.

    Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
    Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
    Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

Thanks for those tips Virgonomic. It was a live auction unfortunately.

He couldn't make it in the end so we got another owner to buy his team along with his own. The missing owner gave him a few guidelines and trusted his judgement. They're mates so it wasn't a problem. Although I'm pretty sure the purchasing of Phil Hughes was a deliberate tactic to annoy a Red Sox fan

That's really one of the only three possible ways to handle it if a replacement can't be found and the owner in question doesn't want to drop out for the year.

The other two are submitting a list of auction values, and giving him any players whose bidding stops below the number he is willing to buy them at, or auctioning remotely by Skype or speakerphone. But if the reason for absence is a last-minute hospital trip, those probably aren't gonna work either. So you did what you had to do.

Such are the trials of the Fantasy Baseball League of Ireland.

We hold the auction in a pub, so it just meant that one owner had to do a bit more thinking and a bit less drinking
