Where do you set your draft benchmark for the category in 2013? Where it has been the last two years? Higher? Lower?

this doesn't necessarily mean there are less R per season overall; it could just be that they are spread out more. so it's not clear you should target anything other than you have previously. it'd be interesting to see the total runs scored over that period as well.

the number of R you target must depend on the league, especially the depth. you're going to target a different number for a shallow vs. deep league, 2 C or not, etc. i target 900-950, but our league is pretty deep, and we have 2 C, and only 13 hitters. it depends a bit on the year, but 900-950 will put me in the top few in that category. in a shallow 1 C league with the typical 14 hitters, you'd probably want to target more - 1100-1200 or so?

I can tell you in 2002, the top run scoring team in AL Tout had 1040 runs. Last season, the winner had 810 and was the only team over 790.

so you're certainly right that there is a trend, MJ. and the last three years have been notably lower. the question is if you believe it will continue.
